About the Initiative
|
1
|
The VOICE-UP project is an initiative led by the St Jeanne Antide Foundation, aimed at strengthening survivor-centred responses to domestic violence in Malta. Building on lived experiences of survivors to understand barriers they face when seeking support, the project contributes to more accessible, responsive, and trauma-informed systems. It brings together research, advocacy, and awareness, ensuring survivor voices remain at the centre of meaningful change.

Implementation Timeline
|

|
Project implementation runs from May to October 2026. During this period, VOICE-UP will conduct structured research, deliver capacity-building sessions, and produce the Aurora Podcast Series. The project aims to amplify survivor voices in a safe and respectful manner, strengthen understanding of realities faced by those experiencing domestic violence, and promote more inclusive and trauma-informed responses across Malta.

Collaborative Approach
|
3
|
VOICE-UP brings together two key SJAF initiatives: SOAR (Surviving Abuse with Resilience), a survivor-led peer support service, and IVY (Interrupting Violence Towards Youth), a youth prevention initiative. This collaborative approach ensures that both survivor experiences and prevention insights inform the project's research, advocacy, and awareness efforts, contributing to ongoing dialogue and positive change within Maltese society.

Securing Essentials for Every Day
(2026–2028)
Ensuring that no family is left without life's basic essentials
Ensuring that no family is left without life's basic essentials
|
The SEED Project – Securing Essentials for Every Day is a three-year initiative led by SJAF to strengthen the coordination and delivery of essential food and hygiene support to families and individuals experiencing poverty and social exclusion.
At the heart of the project is the belief that every person deserves access to the most basic necessities of life. Guided by the Foundation's holistic approach to social work, SEED addresses immediate needs while promoting dignity, stability and hope for the future. Grounded in Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs, the project recognises that meeting basic physiological needs—such as food, nutrition and hygiene—is often the first step towards improving overall wellbeing and enabling individuals and families to move forward. |

Project Overview
What the Project SupportS
The SEED Project strengthens and coordinates three of the Foundation's key practical support initiatives:
🍎 Nourishing Young Minds
Ensuring that children supported by the Foundation attend school with a nutritious packed lunch by providing families with weekly lunch ingredients throughout the scholastic year.
🥫 Food Bank
Providing food hampers and essential groceries to families experiencing financial hardship, helping them meet their basic nutritional needs while reducing immediate financial pressures.
🧼 Hygiene Bank
Providing essential personal and household hygiene products that are often difficult for vulnerable families to afford but are fundamental for health, dignity and wellbeing.

Working Together for Greater Impact
The success of the SEED Project depends on strong community partnerships.
The Foundation works closely with corporate partners, businesses, volunteers and community organisations to collect, sort and redistribute food that would otherwise go to waste, ensuring it reaches families who need it most.
Regular donations of bread, fresh fruit, vegetables, groceries and hygiene products are coordinated through a network of generous partners and volunteers, creating a practical example of community solidarity in action.

Creating Sustainable ChangE

- SDG 2 – Zero Hunger
- SDG 10 – Reduced Inequalities
- SDG 12 – Responsible Consumption and Production
More Than FooD
For the St Jeanne Antide Foundation, providing food is never simply about meeting an immediate need.
Each food hamper, lunch ingredient pack and hygiene product distributed forms part of a wider social work intervention aimed at empowering families, reducing poverty, restoring dignity and building resilience.
Behind every package is a coordinated effort involving social workers, the Family Support Worker, volunteers, corporate partners, and donors, all working together to ensure that vulnerable households receive timely, respectful, and responsive support that is tailored to their individual circumstances.

Project Partners
The SEED Project is implemented with the support of numerous community and corporate partners who generously contribute food, hygiene products, and volunteer time and expertise.
The project is proudly supported through the Atlas Insurance Community Involvement Fund, whose partnership strengthens the Foundation's capacity to coordinate food redistribution, volunteer engagement and practical support for families experiencing hardship.
