Social Work

The Social Work service operates through three service sites of the Foundation: the Antide Family Resource Centre, the Enrichetta Family Resource Centre and Dar Hosea. Its aims are as follows:
  1. To identify and support hard-to-reach socially excluded families and those at risk of poverty;
  2. To dialogue with and build a genuine, supportive and loving-kind rapport with identified vulnerable individuals and families at risk of poverty and social exclusion;
  3. To engage families in a relationship that enables them to explore different solutions to their pressing problems and life challenges;
  4. To enable them to build bridges with enabling parish structures and support organisations across sectors: social welfare, education, health, mental health, employment, entrepreneurship;
  5. To advocate on their behalf when the situation so requires;
  6. To learn from community-based social work practice so as to share insights about what works and with other practitioners from state and non-state organisations;
  7.  To submit policy recommendations to policy makers;
  8. To develop an interdisciplinary, community-based practice involving practitioners from diverse fields of practice – social work, counselling, mental health, non-formal education, youth work, complimentary therapy.

To carry out holistic family-support interventions through the provision of access to a range of  services including counselling, emotional freedom therapy, support groups, informal and non-formal education, volunteering and referral to services offered by other service providers

L-ESPERJENZA TAL-QAGHDA TA' FAMILJI VULNERABBLI - mill-haddiema tal-Fondazzjoni mill-esperjenza tal-Fondazzjoni, hawn kategorija ta' familji vulnerabbli li qeghdin, kull ma jmur, jizolqu f'qaghda ta' faqar. Ir-ragunijiet huma varji u l-fatturi numeruzi. M'hemmx fattur wiehed li jikkawza faqar izda numru ta' fatturi li jdahhlu lil dak li jkun f'nassa li mhux lakemm johorgu minnha, kultant anke minkejja l-ghajnuna.

Ir-ragunijiet li nilmhu mill-hidma ma' familji vulnerabbli fil-komunità stess jinkludu dawn li gejjin:

A. Nahdmu ma' familji li baqghu mghaddsa f'qaghda ta' vulnerabbiltà minn generazzjoni ghall-ohra . Isibu ruhhom f'cirku vizzjuz li jzommhom mahkuma bla tama li jaqtghu c-cirku. Naraw familji fejn il-membri kollha maqbuda f'nassa ta' problemi bhal ma huma l-qaghad, il-mentalità ta' dipendenza fuq beneficcji socjali, livell ta' edukazzjoni baxx, tehid ta' droga jew alkohol, serq biex wiehed imantni l-vizzju, akwist ta' affarijiet essenzjali ghall-hajja b'self ta' flus b'interessi gholjin li jakkumulaw, problemi ta' sahha mentali kkawzati minn tahlita ta' incertezza, insigurtà, anzjetà , ambjent kaotiku u predizpozizzjoni genetika, stima baxxa, u mgieba aggressiva u rabja ghas-socjetà.

B. Insibu hafna familji fejn il- mard mentali qatt ma gie identifikat bhala problema. Dan il-fattur ikun qed jghaddas 'l isfel l i l l-membri kollha tal-familja. Hawn persuni li, minhabba l-karattru b'sahhtu u l-hiliet li jghenuh jimxi 'l quddiem fil-hajja jirnexxilu jinqata' mic-cirku vizzjuz u mir-riskju li jitfarrak hu wkoll. Izda hawn hafna li ma jafux jinfatmu mir-rabtiet ma' familthom, ikunu kemm ikunu mharrbta r-relazzjonijiet. Jibqghu mghaddsa fl-inkubu li jkunu fih u jitfarrku ghal ghomorhom. B'ghajnuna intensa fil-komunità stess, familji bhal dawn tal-ahhar ikollhom ic-cans li jifhmu l-kawzi tal- qaghda taghhom u jahdmu biex jimxu 'l quddiem. Biss, familji bhal dawn ghandhom bzonn relazzjoni b'sahhitha mas-Social Workers taghhom u ma' professjonisti ohra fil-qasam tas-sahha u sahha mentali. Li jkollhom ankra fil-komunità stess tohloq rqajja ta' tama ghal dawn il-familji.

Dawn huma uhud mill-ispag tax-xibka ta' fatturi li jghaddsu 'l isfel familji vulnerabbli. Il-Fondazzjoni, thabrek biex tkun dejjem f'qaghda ahjar u jkollha l-mezzi biex tghin aktar familji milli tista' prezentament.

L-appogg li jinghata lill-familji minn lokalitajiet differenti huwa:

- intens,

- jirrispondi malajr ghal htiega ta' appogg flok ma jdumu jistennew xi sena sakemm xi hadd izurhom u jghinhom,

- moghti bi spirtu ta' mhabba u rispett genwin ghal min ihossu mwarrab,

- jipprovdi soluzzjonijiet varji f'oqsma differenti – psiko-socjali-emozzjonali, spiritwali, edukattiv, sahha, sahha mentali, ambjent,
  kulturali,

- jilhaq il-membri kollha tal-familja anka ta' qraba li jistghu jkunu kemm is-soluzzjoni kemm ukoll kawza ta' anzjetà,

- jahdem mill-qrib ma' entitajiet ohra li huma wkoll joffru servizzi ta' appogg, specjalment dawk specjalizzati,

- jibqa' jwiezen lill-familji minkejja t-tul ta' zmien li jkun hemm bzonn.

Billi l-pubbliku sar aktar midhla tal-hidma t al-Fondazzjoni ma' familji vulnerabbli, ir-referrals minn sorsi differenti ta' familji f'diffikultajiet kbar qieghed jikber. Il-Fondazzjoni ma tixtieqx tghid le lill-familji fir-riskju minhabba raguni ta' distanza ghaliex taf li:

- servizzi ta' Social Work generiku mhuwiex daqstant mifrux,

- servizzi ohra ghandhom waiting list twila,

- persuni ikunu ilhom jistennew sakemm rabbew il-kuragg biex jaccettaw ghajnuna,

- opportunità li jinghata appogg fil-waqt, la jintilef, tista' twassal ghal tbatija li tista' tigi evitata jew imtaffija.
